Oscar De La Renta Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear Collection Favourites

As a young fan of fashion, De La Renta was never alongside
my list of favourites like McQueen, Dior and Balmain
until his Spring 2013 RTW collection caught on my radar.

This comes as no surprise when “Sultan of Suave,”
“Couture Conquistador,” and “Guru of Glamour”
are but three of the complimentary (and catchy) things the
award-winning and debonair designer Oscar de la Renta has been called
in the course of his long and starry career.

Here are my Top Favourites out of his 60 piece collection.
Loving the flaired top.

The kebaya Nyona-esque lace is too beautiful!

A little too much lace for my liking.
Reminds me of Valentino's last collection.

Something about lace that's so sexy and innocent at the same time.

This applique technique is so familiar, seen it before somewhere.

Love the applique top!

Again, LOVE the top. Pants are too A line for my liking.

Just so sweet. The tweed skirt is so Chanel!

Don't you love bright colors on a dark model? STRIKING!

Gotta love em' feathers!

The dress is so Chanel and shoes is very Louis Vuitton S/S 2012!

I love this dainty piece. 50s inspired but in a modern way.

Love how the flowers gradually drop from her bodice.

It's a little too bridal for me. I would be happy with 2 tiers.

Something about this dress tells me : Drama!

Love the pop of color from her shoe.

Rocker Chic! Loving those LV inspired shoes!

Fantastic monochrome combination.

Simply Spanish. Ole!

RED CARPET MATERIAL! *swoon*

True to his roots, this famed son of the Dominican Republic
threw some Caribbean seasoning into the mix,
with an upbeat palette of watermelon pink,
sunshine yellow, and parrot green.
These solids were mixed with vibrant Madras cotton plaids,
slashed to ribbons to create multitiered pencil skirts.
Simply breathtaking.
I'm officially a fan Mr.De La Renta!

Till next time,
XOXO

The Marilyn Golingai Wedding Story - One Bride, Four Looks!

Hello lovelies! Have you missed me?

I'm finally back from my short timeout at home
because it's been such a hectic week of crash dance training & sewing for a client's wedding.
( which I will tell you more later *smile* )

But for now, let me share with you my makeover for
Marilyn who I've had the opportunity of making-over 4 times!
Hence the self-descriptive blog post title.

Here is a picture of Marilyn before her morning session.

For her first look, I gave her a minimal yet simple makeover to suit her Solemnization Ceremony in Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Eyebrows were given a fuller shape while her eyes were kept
minimal with a kiss of brown eyeshadows + emphasis on lashes.
She also requested for red lips for a less pale look.

As for her hair, she requested for a romantic look so I created
this sideswept loose chignon for that effortless feel.

I continued to add white orchids to her hair as she wanted to replicate my previous hairdo design for a beach wedding bride.

A few hours later, she had her reception at her Kg.Pogunon residence and I did a simple retouch for her second look.
Since her foundation hadn't changed, I proceeded to add a little more black eyeshadow to her eyes and retouched her lipstick and blush for a different effect.

As it was going to be a humid day, we decided to re-arrange
her previous hairdo for better comfort!
Her side-swept bangs were then pulled back into a bump
and 3 champagne colored roses were added for adornment.

The next day, the grooms' reception was held at Shangrila's
Tanjung Aru Resort and for her third look, I decided to give
her a more dramatic look to suit the evening occasion starting
with more dramatic eyes.
As she was to be dressed in the Kadazan Penampang traditional outfit, I gave her a heavier version of the Unduk Ngadau eyes
using more darker shades of bronze & taupe with accentuated
black eyeliner.
For that modern touch, silver shimmer was added to the inner
corner of the eyes.
As she wasn't a fan of nude lipsticks I gave her a traditional chilli red color for her lips, customary to Kadazan Penampang culture.

For her hair, I simply did full curls for that sexy volume as she only had shoulder-length hair.
Again hair was side swept and held in place with a decorative pin for that vintage inspired feel.
A red rose was then added for that extra touch that definitely
screams "Marilyn Monroe"!

For her final makeover, she wanted a simple smokey eye for her home ceremony so I did this white, grey & turquoise combo to complement her theme.
No lashes we added and hair was kept minimal.
For her lips I used Covergirl's Outlast All-Day Lip Color in Dusty Rose for resilient, brilliant coverage, color, and shine gives you up to 16 hours of color that stays true, in just 2 easy, breezy steps.

Hope you guys like her look.
Till next time,
XOXO
